Kinky Salon
Founded by Polly and her then partner Scott Lefkoff in 2003, Kinky Salon is a global network of communities celebrating modern sex culture. They are colorful, fun, queer friendly, pansexual, inclusive, volunteer-run, cabaret, costume parties, where sex isn’t the focus, but it happens.
We believe that bringing sex out from behind the bedroom door, and into community as a way to connect with your tribe and express yourself is really healthy and natural. But then we make the whole thing really silly and funny because our culture take sex waaaaaaay too seriously. You can find out more about us here: www.kinkysalon.com
Here are some things people have said about Kinky Salon:
SF Weekly Cover Story
“In a city swarming with sex-positive environments, the result is notable. Guests contribute more than bodies and cash; they contribute time, talent, and ideas, and they support each other’s endeavors both creatively and sexually. Provocative costuming, stimulatory surroundings, and explicit erotic experiences might be anticipated, witnessed, and explored at every “Kinky Salon,” but the sexual aspects are so integrated into the epicurean fabric of the party — the music, the dancing, the photo booths, the slide shows, the toys, the decadent surroundings, and the capricious costuming — that it might actually go overlooked by anyone who came for a slightly less ribald night of creative commingling. The fact is, as sexy as it is, “Kinky Salon” is not about sex, it’s about community-building…”
SF Bay Guardian, Best of the Bay
“A legendary sex-progressive city, San Francisco has adults-only clubs to satisfy every fetish, from women only leather nights to boy-on-boy spanking parties. But where does a smarty-pants scenester with a penchant for bizarre costumes, twisted puppet shows, and naughty tomfoolery go to satisfy his or her carnal desires? Once a month, Kinky Salon’s sex-positive gathering caters to the pansexual, art damaged set. From its Mission Control headquarters, cocreators Polly Pandemonium and Professor Violet preside over the fun-loving regulars who faithfully return every month. Each installment brings a new theme, and a strict costume dress code is enforced… A warm, community atmosphere prevails, and with a charter that includes ground rules like “I will respect perversity and diversity,” “If I spill my drink, I will clean it up,” and (our favorite) “I will not cruise aggressively (even if they are really cute),” the vibe evokes a sexually enlightened house party.”

“This close knit community of ‘sex positive’ men and women in San Francisco throw monthly parties, as well as casual meet-ups and workshops, to meet one another, socialize, experiment, and share their experiences as members of the hedonistic subculture. Kinky Salon prides itself in being more about the progression and liberalization of sexuality in the public sphere than sex.
